Subsidies for the creation of French bookshops or the implantation of a French-language stock

To encourage the availability of books in the French language abroad by facilitating the creation and renewal of a network of approved bookshops, ‘Reference French Bookshops’, and the availability of books in French in international bookshops.

Reference French Bookshops: obtaining official recognition

To foster the availability of books in the French language abroad by facilitating the development of a network of approved bookshops which offer a rich and varied selection in the French language and who are actively engaged in their promotion.

Reference French Bookshops: subsidy for the diversification and promotion of the French-language offer

To foster the availability of books in the French language abroad by facilitating the development of a network of approved bookshops actively engaged in the promotion of a rich and varied selection of works in the French language.

Training seminar for booksellers of a French-language offer

In Paris, May 27 – June 14, 2013

This training seminar, organised jointly by the BIEF and the CNL, will take place from May 27 to June 14, 2013, in Paris. It is intended for booksellers operating outside French territory, principally in non-French-speaking countries. It is designed for those in charge of French-language bookshops or of sections selling French-language books in international bookshops. Also, under certain conditions, those planning to open a French-language bookshop may be eligible for the seminar.

The application dossier

Two copies of application dossiers must be sent:

  • one addressed to the cultural dept. of the French Embassy in the country where the bookshop operates, who will proceed to make a report
  • the other to the CNL

Calendar

The commissions assemble 3 times a year.

Three application submission deadlines:

  • 30 November for the mid-January session
  • 30 March for the mid-May session
  • 15 July for the mid-September session

Only dossiers which meeting the eligibility and admissibility criteria, and include all the requested documents, will be considered by the commission.

For the seminar for booksellers of a French-language offer (from May 27 to June 14, 2013, in Paris) two complete copies of the dossier must be transmitted with all the documents requested before November 30, 2012 to the Centre national du livre and the cultural department of the French Embassy of the country where the bookseller operates.

Cette carte permet d'avoir une vision globale du réseau de librairies commercialisant des livres en français à l'étranger, accompagnées depuis de nombreuses années par le CNL, et de les localiser.
